The HE QUESTING project supports young researchers in the field of quantum networks in Europe

An international project under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) programme, QUESTING, officially launched on 1 December 2025, focuses on training emerging specialists known as Q-system innovators. Through this project, 15 early-career researchers from leading European institutions will join an ambitious doctoral network, with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (FEECS) at VŠB-TUO participating as part of the consortium.

For quantum technologies to meaningfully transform IT, communication, and cybersecurity, it is essential to educate experts with truly cross-disciplinary skills. Quantum networks demand a holistic perspective, and aligning them with existing technologies remains one of today’s most complex challenges.

“The project is therefore designed to support a new generation of doctoral students – researchers who, thanks to this consortium, will integrate advanced knowledge from physics, mathematics, computer science, and electrical engineering into their work. Each member of the consortium contributes highly specialised expertise, and the doctoral candidates undertake internships at partner institutions based on the needs of their dissertation research. We highly value our participation in a consortium that includes institutions such as Sorbonne University, Trinity College Dublin, and Delft University of Technology,” said Miroslav Vozňák of FEECS.

QUESTING aims to strengthen Europe’s leadership in the global quantum revolution. Coordinated by South East Technological University, the project will run until November 2029. Partners include universities from Italy, the Netherlands, France, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. VŠB-TUO is the sole Czech participant. The overall budget is EUR 4.5 million, with the European Commission supporting eight selected universities.
