Additive technologies and 3D printing were showcased at the International Engineering Fair.
The REFRESH project was presented at this year’s International Engineering Fair thanks to the Department of Machining, Assembly, and Engineering Metrology of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Ostrava and the Protolab 3D Printing Centre. Faculty representatives and project members introduced the unique domestic study program in Additive Technologies (3D printing) and discussed their research activities under the Industry 4.0 & Automotive Lab. Marek Pagac participated in a discussion on “Problem Solving in the Management of (Not Only) Innovation Projects,” organized by the Czech Association of Interim Management in collaboration with MM Industrial Spectrum journal.
“We opted to present a scaled-down model of our facility this year, complete with iconography. Beyond detailing the study program, we also showcased the Protolab 3D Printing Centre that provides 3D printing production services, design, 3D scanning, machining, inspection and measurement, professional training, and more,” stated Jakub Mesicek. He also introduced the workplace and the REFRESH project to Minister of the Environment Petr Hladik who visited their stand.
Solving problems in the management of (not only) innovation projects was the main topic of the debate of the same name, which was held on Thursday at the fair by the Czech Association of Interim Management in cooperation with the MM Industrial Spectrum journal.
“The discussion on crisis management in project management was both engaging and enlightening, with speakers providing complementary insights. There was a clear overlap between practical project management experiences and those from our university projects. Many companies neglect project management, allowing projects to spiral out of control until issues arise, often leaving little time to address these crises. Preventative measures, including risk analysis, are crucial and must be monitored regularly by the responsible project member. I hope this discussion encourages many managers to adopt effective project management practices and adhere to fundamental guidelines to mitigate crisis situations,” stated Marek Pagac. Joining him were Petr Karasek, crisis manager, and Jana Dronska from CAIM, alongside Martin Belza, a mechanical engineering specialist, Lubomir Svec from SVEC GROUP, and Jiri Marek from VUT.
The discussion was accessible to fair attendees, representatives of exhibiting companies, and online viewers through the MM Industrial Spectrum YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rcimopaz2c4, where the recording remains available for later viewing. The outcomes will also be featured in the upcoming issue of MM Industrial Spectrum journal.
